Cops: Bad Girls / Caught in the Act / Shots Fired
studio: 20th Century Fox msrp: $29.99

The Movie:
Fox television has been showing COPS on Saturday Nights for most of my adult life (I'm 30). While I love the show and catch it whenever I happen to still be at home on a Saturday night, I've always wanted to see the stuff that was not shown on TV. So when Fox announced the release of three new Cops DVD's, sold separately or as a 3-pack, I was estatic.

The DVD's arrived and the cover told me everything I needed to know. It says "Each DVD contains nearly 20 additional minutes of uncensored "Too Hot For TV" footage! So between the 3 discs you get 1 hour of unseen stuff. Call me crazy but only one freaking hour of a show that has been on the air for more than 10 years!

While I'm disappointed with the extra footage, what each of the 3 DVD's give is entertaining. While those voyeurs out there expecting to see tons of naughty footage might think this is the place, there is really hardly any. However the cursing is in full force and seeing it unedited sometimes makes the clip seem almost totally different from its original airing.

The rest of the footage is the same stuff seen on the air. I must admit much of this footage is some of the better stuff seen over the years, I still feel that COPS unedited material could be better used. I personally want to see the stuff that was never aired. Also what about bloopers? There's got to be some hillarious bloopers in over ten years of footage, right? Cops fans won't see much here that hasn't been seen before, but this is worth a rental on a lonely night.

The Disc:

The transfer is slightly better than the original broadcast airings. I admit that being filmed "live" probably has something to do with it. The sounds are decent but nothing really impressive over the original airings. As for extras, where are they? There's nothing here but the "Too Hot For TV" footage, which I admit is entertaining but hey not worth the asking price of the show.

bottom line:
Cops is still one of the most original shows on TV with weekly content that entertains moreso in my opinion than the other "reality" shows. These new discs offer up some entertainment but not enough to warrant the buying price. Instead we recommend a rental for one night of laughs and entertainment!
